Three people are in custody following a police chase that led to a collision on the Niagara-bound QEW in Oakville, snarling traffic during the rush-hour commute Tuesday morning.
Police in Halton Region say around 4:20 a.m. they received a call about a suspicious pickup truck at a car dealership in the area of Kerr Street and Wyecroft Road, just off the QEW.
Police say officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver continue to flee police. Police continued to follow the vehicle, which then lost control and struck a guardrail on the QEW near Bronte Road.
Officers arrested three people who were in the vehicle. They were treated for minor injuries.
Police wouldn’t confirm if a police cruiser was struck during the chase as the investigation is ongoing.
All westbound lanes, except for the HOV lane, were closed from Bronte Road to Burloak Drive. The area has since reopened to traffic.
The Toronto-bound lanes were not affected.
