Light No Fire is very reminiscent of No Man's Sky, but instead of being set in a universe with infinite planets to explore, it's set on an ancient fantasy planet the size of Earth.
Hello Games' latest installment promises to combine fantasy RPG elements (including rideable flying dragons and other epic beasts) with endless exploration possibilities and survival gameplay.

When is Light No Fire released?
At the time of writing, there is no release date for Light No Fire. Hello Games has not yet revealed when the No Man's Sky sequel will be released. However, given what we've already seen in the gameplay-filled trailer, we're guessing it could launch by late 2024.
However, without an official announcement from the developer, it is impossible to know when Light No Fire will be released. Late 2024 is just a guess based on the state of the game so far.
It's an ambitious title, so don't be surprised if we see it in 2025. We will update this page once the official release date is confirmed.
Can I pre-order Light No Fire?
No, Light No Fire is currently not available for pre-order. However, you can add the game to your Steam wishlist from here.
Fingers crossed Hello Games will reveal more details about pre-ordering Light No Fire soon, but there's not even a release window, so there's a long way to go before you can pre-purchase the game. Add to wishlist to get the latest news.
On what consoles and platforms can I play Light No Fire?
Light No Fire is currently only confirmed for PC (via Steam). Other platforms are still being confirmed.
Given that No Man's Sky is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Nintendo Switch, and even iPad, it seems likely that Light No Fire will also be released on consoles. There are also expectations.
We can't say for sure until it's officially announced, but we wouldn't be surprised if Light No Fire eventually launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The game may also appear on the rumored Switch 2.
Light No Fire gameplay and story details
Light No Fire is set on an ancient fantasy planet the size of Earth and aims to combine RPG and multiplayer survival sandbox gameplay. In development at Hello Games past 5 years.
Hello Games founder Sean Murray is trying desperately not to overhype or over-promote the game. As you can see, the mission is successful.
Well, in Light No Fire, expect a map as big as Earth, filled with rideable dragons (and other flying beasts), oceans to explore, fantasy RPG elements, and tiny evil skeletons. If that happens, we can expect it to be another amazingly big experience following No Man's Sky.
In fact, according to the game's official website, Light No Fire's world map promises to be “a true open world without boundaries, on a scale never before attempted.” The procedural fantasy Earth will feature “immersive biomes, unique enemies, and valuable resources to discover.”
You can explore every location you come across in the game, including every mountain and ocean. “Sail across vast oceans and rivers, ride beasts across fantastical landscapes, and soar your dragons across uncharted landscapes.”
Finally, the entire game appears to be multiplayer, similar to No Man's Sky. Similar to No Man's Sky, you can build permanent buildings and create a permanent community as you explore and survive. Oh, and did we already mention you can fly around on a dragon?
