The State Department is warning travelers against traveling to these popular Caribbean islands.

Whether it's a spring break trip, a summer getaway, or an escape from the winter chill, Caribbean islands are always a good idea for Americans looking for a quick getaway or sneaking in some long relaxing time away from the office. The Caribbean islands have it all. It's close enough to the mainland United States to be beautiful, culturally rich, and diverse.
While these are certainly convenient destinations, it's still important to check whether traveling there is considered safe during the time of year you're planning your trip. Although most are considered relatively safe at this time, some islands are currently subject to “do not travel” alerts. Due to recent events, including Haiti, Americans are strongly advised not to travel to the country.
To help you determine the safety level of destinations heading to the Caribbean, we have compiled a list of all active Caribbean travel advisories issued or updated by the U.S. Department of State. This guide will be updated regularly as more advisories are issued or adjusted.
Each travel advisory in the list below represents a different degree of the level of risk assessed by authorities. Level 1 is the lowest level and states “take normal precautions.” Level 2 warns travelers to “take extra precautions”. Levels 3 and 4 are the highest risk levels and urge travelers to “consider traveling” and “cancel travel,” respectively.
