The iPad Air 6 may finally be launching soon, with numerous leaks pointing to a March release.
For iPad fans, this probably felt like a long wait, considering the previous model, iPad Air (2022), was released in March 2022. So it's been 2 years since that tablet, much more than 1 year. It's been a year since the new iPad was introduced.
However, this new iPad Air might be worth the wait. That's because it's not just a small bump in specs, as there's talk that it could feature a larger 12.9-inch screen among other upgrades. However, there is a possibility that a 10.9-inch model will be released as well.
Below you'll find complete details on all the iPad Air 6 leaks and rumors we've heard so far, including expected specs, design changes, and expected release date and price.
We will update this article as new information becomes available, so if you want to stay up to date, please bookmark this page.

iPad Air 6: Expected release date and price

Based on previous rumors, the iPad Air 6 will likely be released in early May, at least according to Apple tipster Mark Gurman. Previously scheduled to be announced in March and April, all the new information, including the new iPad model number posted on the Bureau of Indian Standards website, means the iPad Air 6 and new iPad Pro will be available in May. Which indicates that.
As for pricing, it's likely to be the same amount as the last one, starting at $599 / £569 / AU$929, but the cost has gone up to add more storage.
iPad Air 6: Rumored design and display
The big news about the iPad Air 6's display is that there could be two new iPad Air models, the second with a larger screen or better specs.
Of these two options, the larger screen size seems more likely. Later, another source said a larger 12.9-inch iPad Air was coming, and more recently another source mentioned a 12.9-inch iPad Air 6. It claims that both this and the expected 10.9-inch model will be released. So we may soon have more mid-range iPad options than usual.
More recently, we heard that panels for the 12.9-inch iPad Air will begin shipping in December. Therefore, it seems very likely that this model exists.
That said, more recent leaks suggest there may not be a 12.9-inch iPad Air 6 at all, with sources claiming they can only see signs that a 10.9-inch model is in development.
The upcoming iPad Air 6 doesn't appear to have a major redesign, except for the addition of a new landscape selfie camera. According to my sources, there is only one confirmed size: 10.9 inches. Therefore, I don't think there will be any larger sizes available. pic.twitter.com/xkjo4waNpOMarch 18, 2024

Other than the possibility of this larger model, we don't expect any major changes to the screen. The addition of his ProMotion panel with mini-LED technology to the iPad Air 6 is great, but these Pro-level features will inevitably drive up the price of the mid-range iPad.
In fact, one source says that the next iPad Air will have “enhanced specifications.” But the iPad Air 5 already has a decent design and display for its mid-range price point anyway.
However, one small design change could be to move the selfie camera to the long side, putting it in a better position for landscape orientation. The source who said this also claims that the iPad Air 6 will probably launch in the same colors as the iPad Air 2022 (meaning Space Gray, Starlight, Pink, Purple, Blue), but… Either pink or blue color may be selected. Abandoned (and probably replaced by something else).
And from what we've heard, the possible dimensions of this 12.9-inch iPad Air 6 are apparently 280.6 mm x 214.9 mm x 6.0 mm. For reference, the iPad Air (2022) measures 247.6 x 178.5 x 6.1 mm, making it slightly slimmer than the already very thin tablet. The dimensions of the other leaked iPad Air 6 are larger, but this is not surprising given that the screen is also noticeably larger.
iPad Air 6: Rumored camera and battery
We haven't heard much about the iPad Air 6's camera or battery, but there are reportedly no major design changes, so it's likely we'll see a single-lens camera on the back again, and specs for this camera are yet to be announced. It hasn't been, so there's no leak, but there's a good chance it'll be 12MP again.
The front camera may also be 12MP again, but a leak suggests that the iPad Air 6 will have a horizontal front camera instead of the previous model's portrait orientation.
We also don't know much about the battery, but a source says the rumored 12.9-inch iPad Air 6's screen will feature an oxide backplane, which should reduce power consumption and extend battery life. .
iPad Air 6: Rumored specs and features
One of the main rumors we've heard about the iPad Air 6 so far concerns its processor, which is expected to be Apple's M2 chip.
Tipsters including Revegnus (below) claim that Apple's next-generation iPad Air will replace the previous model's boasted M1 chip with the M2 chip currently found in the top-of-the-line MacBook and iPad Pro 12.9 (2022) doing. Performance has improved significantly since iPad Air 6.
It remains to be seen whether Apple will ship an iPad Air 6 with an 8-core GPU or a 10-core GPU (like the latest iPad Pro), but the iPad Air is positioned as Apple's midrange iPad option. Given that, older GPU sizes can be cheaper.
iPad Air 6: What we want
1. A clearer identity
The biggest problem with the 2022 iPad Air is that it's too close to the iPad Pro. Most buyers will have a hard time deciding which one to buy and which one is best for them. In fact, the low price makes the Pro a bit unnecessary.
Apple will need to come up with a better way to make the next iPad Air unique and not too similar to the Pro. Perhaps they could get a more mid-range spec sheet and lower the price to make it more affordable.
2. More storage
The current iPad Air has 64GB of storage, which is simply not enough for a tablet with a top-end chipset.
This isn't enough space to download many games or store a large number of files to work on or edit. So I'm not really sure why this version exists.
The price also seems a bit dishonest. Sure, the entry price of $599 / £569 / AU$929 seems cheap, but if you're only getting a little storage space for the money, I'm not sure anyone would buy an iPad Air again. Sho. Its price.
3. Bigger battery
The problem I found with the last iPad Air, and honestly most other iPads, is that the battery life isn't amazing. They say it wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't good either.
If you want to work while walking around a coffee shop or bring your iPad into the studio to use as a second screen, you need a device that will last for a long time. Current iPads don't necessarily do that.
We believe that the next-generation iPad Air will probably use a larger battery, along with optimizations to maximize its power, to ensure its chances of appearing on our list of the best iPads. I hope that.
