Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness has insisted that relegation “should be an option” if Manchester City are found guilty of financial breaches.
Josep Guardiola's side were accused by the Premier League of 115 violations over nine seasons last year.
Will Man City be relegated?
Premier League chairman Richard Masters said a date has been set for a public hearing, which is closed to the public.
That is thought to be until 2025, but with Everton and Nottingham Forest receiving point deductions this season, City and their 115 charges are in the spotlight.
On Monday, the Premier League announced that the player had been deducted four points and was now in the relegation zone.
Everton, on the other hand, were deducted 10 points in November last year and then reduced to six points last month on appeal.
The Toffees were sanctioned by an independent commission for losing more than £19.5 million over the three seasons up to 2021/22 than allowed under the league's profitability and sustainability regulations.

Fans around the world want to know how Manchester City, who have better lawyers than O.J. Simpson, will be punished, but many expect they will walk away unscathed.
There has been talk of relegation to League Two and the title being stripped, and in an interview with Football Insider, former Everton CEO Wyness likened the situation to Rangers being relegated to Scotland's fourth tier due to tax issues.
Wyness believes expulsion from the Premier League “should be an option” after the Masters and other games. “We put ourselves in a corner” by deciding to give Everton a 10-point deduction.
“We saw it with the Rangers employee benefits issue and the tax situation,” he said.
“That was an expulsion and they ended up dropping a few leagues down.
“The kick-off against Man City is going to be incredible, we know that. It will be seismic.
“But it has to be an option.
“The Premier League cornered Everton by giving them a 10-point penalty, which is more than a punishment for coming into the regime.
“Where are you going with something bigger?” They were running out of room for maneuver. ”
