CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The 2024 total solar eclipse is less than a month away, giving 15 states breathtaking views that won't be seen again until 2045.
Because of this, many Americans may travel to be in the direct path of the eclipse. But before you book that flight, WCNC Charlotte has some travel tips before you start your adventure. That way, you won't have to wonder, “Where's the money?”

Only a partial solar eclipse will be visible in Charlotte. If you want to see a total solar eclipse, you'll have to leave the Carolinas. Travel website Going has some tips for those who want a front row seat to the views.
First, Going says if you haven't booked a trip yet, you're already late. However, that doesn't mean you're completely out of luck. With some creativity and flexibility, you can see this amazing phenomenon without spending a fortune.
The Total Path stretches from the west coast of Mexico to the east coast of Canada, and crosses the United States from Texas through the Midwest to New York and Maine.
Going said the best places to see the eclipse are probably Mexico and Texas.

And while ticket prices vary depending on departure location, date, and when the ticket was purchased, Going said the cheapest cities on the flight route are:
Indianapolis San Antonio Buffalo Austin Cleveland
Using airline points is also a great way to get cheaper last-minute fares. If a flight to the airport closest to where you want to see the eclipse is too expensive, Gowing says, consider a road trip from a nearby airport that doesn't have as many eclipse prices. He may have to drive three to four hours to see a total solar eclipse, but it may be worth it to save money.
