Louis Rees-Zammit is set to sign a contract with the defending Super Bowl champions, according to reports in the United States.
The former Wales winger has visited a number of teams since completing an intensive 10-week training program after joining the NFL's international player pathway.
Rees-Zammit has visited several franchises, including the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns and Denver Broncos, but it looks like he will be joining the Kansas City Chiefs.
According to Bleacher Report, the 23-year-old officially signed his contract on Friday and will attend summer camp ahead of the new season starting in September.
compete for a spot on the roster
Once there, the speedster will compete for a spot on the Chiefs' roster, which will ultimately be reduced to 53 players for the 2024-25 season.
Rees-Zammit said it was a disappointing pro day for a promising player trying to impress potential NFL suitors, but he is considered an interesting prospect.
Fryer ran a 4.44 second 40-yard dash, slower than he said he had been running in training, while his jumps (wide and vertical) were below average.
Still, the Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes, remained unfazed. Despite being the defending champions and winning three of the past five Super Bowls, the Chiefs struggled with their receiving corps last season.
Rees-Zammit is considered a threat as a combination wide receiver and running back, as well as an option as a kick returner on special teams.
His pace and balance could make him a threat in the running game, while his height marks him as a potential target for Mahomes' accurate throws from the quarterback.

his best position
After making his shocking announcement in January, Rees-Zammit has revealed which position he sees himself playing in American football.
“In rugby, position-wise, I always want to have the ball,” he said.
“So I think it's going to be somewhere in the offense, running back, receiver, a little bit of a hybrid. Whatever they say, I'll do it. My main attribute in rugby is speed and that's very transferable. I would say he has good hands and doesn't drop the ball too much.
“But I understand that this is a different sport and the ball is coming at you very fast so it takes a little bit of effort. Very good.”
“You will need different skills, but at the same time you will be able to further improve the skills you already have. The faster you can learn the game, the better because you will be able to show everyone what you are capable of. It will be.”
Rees-Zammit still has a lot of work to do if he wants to join a team with stars like Mahomes and Travis Kelce.
Even if he had the athletic ability to be successful, it would be difficult for him to learn routes and understand the sport compared to those who have played the sport their entire lives.
However, if he does not make the main squad for the 53-man NFL campaign, the former Wales star is likely to be placed on the practice squad.
This season, that number has been expanded to 17 players, allowing the team to include international players from elsewhere, either through IPP, where Rees-Zammit was a member.
