Foreign Secretary Winston Peters will tour Egypt and Europe starting this weekend.
“This visit will focus on the scope of New Zealand's traditional diplomatic and security partnership and enable broader engagement with the Gaza emergency,” Mr Peters said.
Peters will attend the NATO Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Brussels and will make bilateral visits to Egypt, Poland and Sweden.
“Since taking office late last year, the Coalition Government has focused on New Zealand's traditional security partners,” Mr Peters said.
“New Zealand can only protect and advance our interests by working with traditional partners who share a strategic assessment of the challenges facing the world.My message to the NATO Foreign Ministers Meeting This visit, including my attendance, will advance these traditional partnerships.”
The urgent humanitarian situation in Gaza will also be a focus of the Minister's upcoming visit.
“New Zealand is part of the overwhelming international consensus calling for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza. This visit will allow us to share information and perspectives with a range of stakeholders and coordinate broader international action. can.”
Mr. Peters will be responsible for the following programs:
Cairo, Egypt, April 1st. Including meetings with Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit. Minister Peters will leave New Zealand for the Middle East on Saturday 30 March.
