Moldova. Chisinau International Airport has extended the deadline for public tenders to secure the operator of airside and landside food and retail services.
The bidding period is open until April 15th. Applications will be reviewed April 15-16 and winners will be announced on April 17. For more information, click Caietul_de_Sarcini_EN.pdf (airport.md).
As reported, the contract period is 3 years. However, this period may be extended if the parties agree accordingly (by signing additional annexes), provided that the tenant fulfills all contractual obligations.
The starting monthly rent for the 10 facilities is €154,615.90 excluding VAT, based on an annual passenger capacity of 2.8 million.
For every 100,000 additional passengers, rent increases by +2% each year. Even if ridership decreases, rent payments will remain the same.
Moldova's gateway passenger numbers (see table) peaked at just under 3 million in 2019 (+35% increase compared to 2015) before being hit hard by the pandemic.
Despite the Ukraine crisis, passenger numbers have steadily recovered, reaching 77.3% of pre-crisis levels in 2022 and 94.6% in 2023.
The national airport company predicts passenger numbers will rise to 4.5 million by 2027.
Chisinau International Airport said it expects the successful bidder to:
Improving the overall traveler experience, creating and operating units that are attractive from a commercial point of view, strengthening the offer to meet the growing needs of travelers using Chisinau International Airport, and promoting local cultural heritage. Combined with international offers, the share of non-tourists increases aviation revenue.
The application must be submitted to the Office of the Grand Public Ministry in SE “Chisinau International Airport”, Chisinau, MD 2026, bd. Dacia 80/3, Office 210. d.
