Sarah Jessica Parker is taking steps to encourage her children to have a “healthier relationship” with food and nutrition than she had when she was younger.
Appearing on the Lucy's Table 4 podcast this week, the Sex and the City actor said she doesn't have hard and fast rules for how much sugar her 14-year-old twins, Tabitha and Marion, should consume.
“When I had girls, I didn't want them to have an adversarial relationship with food or feel like food was their enemy,” Parker explained in a clip from the episode. . “When I was growing up, we weren't allowed sugar in the house. We weren't allowed cookies or chocolate either.”
“And of course, the moment we moved in, all we did was buy Entenmann's cake and cookies. I didn't want that,” she said. “We have cookies and cake and everything at our house. I think you can have healthier relationships as a result.”

In addition to her twins, Parker also has a 21-year-old son, James, with husband Matthew Broderick. The couple married in 1997.
Although Parker and Broderick are most associated with New York, they currently live in London and are starring in the West End production of the Neil Simon comedy “Plaza Suite.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Parker admitted that he wasn't “very disciplined” about his eating, and credited his toned physique to early dance training and live performances.
“It's certainly not the same now,” she said.
Parker believes that by depriving children of certain foods, they will also develop strict ideas about body image.
“My daughters are going to look like they are now and I want them to be healthy,” she said. “They're athletes, they enjoy food, and they all have different tastes. You can't like something that person doesn't like or doesn't want.”
She went on to say, “I hope they can find their own ways to maintain that love of the experience and the joy of flavor and make it healthy for them.”
