Today and tomorrow may be damp, but following a prolonged soaking that has persisted for several days, Toronto is on the brink of experiencing brighter weather this upcoming weekend.
There’s a 40 percent chance of flurries or showers in the city today, with temperatures reaching a high of just 3°C.
According to CP24 Meteorologist Bill Coulter, the extensive and intricate weather system that has brought unsettled conditions since Tuesday continues to influence southern Ontario. Coulter remarked, “After a night of mixed precipitation and snow, particularly over the north GTA, we’ll see diminished winds and lighter precipitation. However, anticipate intermittent showers and moist flurries. There’s even a possibility of heavier wet flurries during the evening rush hour.”
A winter weather travel advisory was issued for various parts of the Greater Toronto area and much of southern Ontario on Thursday morning due to the potential for wet snow, but it has since been lifted.
Nevertheless, the prospect of messy weather led to some school bus cancellations in Simcoe County, although most schools remain open for instruction.
Fortunately, the city is slated to experience a warming trend over the weekend, with predominantly sunny skies and temperatures reaching highs of 8°C and 12°C expected on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. These warmer conditions are anticipated to persist into the following week, with temperatures climbing to 12°C on Monday and Tuesday, and peaking at 15°C on Wednesday.
While the long-term forecast may not be favorable for those looking forward to witnessing a rare solar eclipse on Monday, with clouds currently predicted, there’s a possibility that this could change closer to the event.
