State health officials are providing an update on the whooping cough (whooping cough) outbreak in the eastern region.
NL Health Services said its team of health and infectious disease control doctors is working with other medical professionals to monitor and respond to the evolving situation.
They investigate cases reported to public health agencies, identify close contacts of people who test positive, and take steps to limit the spread of infection.
The testing clinic is located at 50 Mundy Pond Road in St. John's and is by appointment only. A referral from your primary care provider is not required, but if you would like to schedule an appointment or an appointment, please call 709-752-7852 or text 1-877-709-0512.
Tests will only be available to people who meet both public health criteria.
People who experience symptoms of a low-grade fever, a runny nose, red, watery eyes, a cough, or a severe cough that worsens over time, leading to severe repeated or forceful coughing attacks. People who have been confirmed to have had contact with a whooping cough patient.
Those who meet both conditions are encouraged to make a reservation.
If you are experiencing symptoms but have not been in contact with someone who has pertussis, contact your health care provider or call 811.
