Rwandans have less than a month to decide who their president will be to lead the country for the next five years.
Campaigning for the presidential and parliamentary elections begins on Saturday, June 22 and is expected to spread across Rwanda in what is seen as the country's largest public gathering, bringing together people from all walks of life.
As the D-day of the elections draws near, Rwandan musicians from legends like Masamba Intore who fought in Rwanda’s liberation struggle to first-time voters like Bwiza and Nelu Ngabo have all teamed up to produce election songs, most or all of which praise the great work of the RPF-Inkotani and its chairman and current president, Paul Kagame.
New Times has selected the 10 most trending songs, in no particular order, ahead of the 2024 elections, the fourth in the post-genocide era.

The song was originally premiered in 2021 and has been recreated with some changes, particularly to express gratitude to President Paul Kagame for his exemplary leadership and incredible achievements in rebuilding the country over the past three decades.
In his new hit, the “Mutuale” singer portrays the Head of State as a man of action who delivers on his promises, as he highlights several progressive projects including the renovated Amahoro National Stadium, one of the locations that actually featured in the song's video, mega sporting events such as car-free days, community service (Umuganda), a strong military, tourism, health and education.
The two rappers, who are also said to be a couple, were impressed by the exemplary approach of the Head of State. They reflected on a difficult situation that once seemed insurmountable and celebrated the transformation of what seemed like a nightmare into a reality.
In the three-minute audiovisual song, the singers reaffirm that no one could have achieved this except Kagame and that everyone should follow the good example he set for the present and future.
