Morgan Freeman turned 87 this month, on June 1 to be exact. However, a recent video of the iconic actor at the Monte Carlo TV Festival went viral on Friday, with fans raving about him. In the video, he was in good spirits and smiling, but wearing a glove on his left hand. Some social media users pointed out that Morgan Freeman has been wearing compression gloves for some time now because he developed fibromyalgia after a car accident in 2008.
“Morgan Freeman is 87 and still knows how to slam Trump. Morgan Breeman is even better,” one user commented.
“Morgan Freeman hasn't aged much since I was a kid (he's 87),” another user pointed out.
But what is the issue surrounding Morgan Freeman's gloves?
Morgan Freeman has been spotted wearing a glove on his left hand at the 2022 World Cup and the 2023 Academy Awards. “I have fibromyalgia. I have pain up and down my arm. It gets worse there. It's excruciating pain,” Morgan explained in the interview.
According to reports, in 2008, Freeman was involved in a serious car accident while driving late at night in Mississippi. His car went off the road, rolled multiple times, and ended up in a ditch. Morgan suffered permanent nerve damage and limited mobility. He was 71 years old at the time.
The actor suffered multiple fractures and underwent surgery to repair his arm. The nerve damage limited the range of motion in his left hand, causing swelling and requiring the use of compression gloves to control the condition.
What is fibromyalgia?
It is a disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory and mood problems. The condition amplifies the sensation of pain by affecting the way the brain and spinal cord process pain and non-pain signals.
