The Straw Hat Crew is heading out on the Grand Line as Netflix’s live-action One Piece series has resumed production for season two following the success of season one.
The anime stars Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu Yu as Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skyler as Sanji. Their chemistry is undeniable in season one, but it will be exciting to see the relationship between these characters develop as their pirate adventures continue.
Season 1 covered most of the East Blue arc of the manga up until the Arlong Park arc, which means the Rogue Town arc is next. The final episode of the Netflix series introduced Vice Admiral Smoker, so we can expect the antagonist to make an appearance in season 2.
On September 14, 2023, Netflix shared a video of Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, announcing the renewal of season 2. Remember, his deep involvement in season 1 was a big reason why this anime adaptation was such a big hit. In true One Piece fashion, the news was delivered via a transponder snail. “Two weeks after the launch, we received great news,” Oda said. “Netflix has decided to renew the show! The adventures of Inaki and the live-action Straw Hat Pirates will continue!”
Here’s everything we know so far about season 2 of Netflix’s One Piece.

Some One Piece fans have called for Jamie Lee Curtis to be cast as Dr. Kureha in the live-action version. Dr. Kureha is a key character in the Drum Island arc and the adoptive mother of Tony Tony Chopper, the doctor who joins the Straw Hat Pirates. On September 22, 2023, Curtis posted on Instagram that she was interested in playing the character. “Once the strike against AMTPT’s greed is resolved with a fair contract, I will work with the growing fan enthusiasm to play the role of Dr. Kureha in @onepiecenetflix,” she wrote.
