Latest News Live Updates, July 8, 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in the Russian capital Moscow late afternoon on Monday, July 8, to attend the 22nd India-Russia annual summit and review bilateral ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This will be PM Modi’s first visit to Russia since Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. According to External Affairs Minister Vinay Kwatra, the two leaders will share views on “mutually beneficial regional and global developments”.

Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in the Lower House of India, Rahul Gandhi, is scheduled to visit Assam and Manipur on Monday, days after expressing concern in Parliament over ethnic conflict between the Meitei and Khukizomi tribes in the state. He will fly to the conflict-hit Jiriban district at around 10 am to interact with internally displaced persons (IDPs) staying at the Jiriban relief camp. In Assam, he will meet people affected by the floods in the state.
