Season 1 of Netflix’s Super Rich in Korea has been controversial since it first aired, and there are good reasons why the show shouldn’t be renewed.
The Boyfriend embodies diversity thanks to its multi-ethnic cast, who openly express their feelings in a world where same-sex marriage is not yet legal. It features a fantastic cast of hosts, including Chiaki Horan, Dorian Lollobrigida, famous Japanese drag queen Thelma Aoyama, Megumi, and Yoshimi Tokui. Yoshimi is a very popular comedian and is best known as the host of Terrace House.
Boyfriend Trailer
Dramatic
After the highly anticipated trailer was released on June 30, The Boyfriend’s trailer gave a hint of what viewers should expect. The unique dating series sees nine participants spend a memorable summer at a beach house and develop meaningful relationships. It sees the men running a coffee truck. They spend time together and get to know the motivations of their potential future partners (via Netflix).
The trailer shows moments of drama, love, great connections, family approval, heartbreak and jealousy. The Boyfriend joins a string of hit dating shows about singles looking for love. What makes this show different is that these young men take turns maintaining a mini truck and live together. There is not much pressure on the cast to find a romantic partner, but it is never forced upon them.
The series will focus on the friendships and journey of self-discovery of the cast members. If their relationship becomes more than platonic, they will get a chance to explore it. A lot of issues could arise and this concept could be a disaster. There might be some messy love triangles, but these types of storylines are what will make The Boyfriend Season 1 worth watching.
The Boyfriend season 1 will premiere on Netflix on July 9th.
