Donald Trump survived the assassination attempt, but a former fire chief at the rally was killed and two others seriously injured. The assassin was found within minutes and shot dead by the Secret Service.

During the US presidential election campaign, Donald Trump spoke at a rally in Battlefield, where the crowd rose to their feet and cheered as Trump took to the podium.
6:05pm ET

Trump began addressing his supporters and spoke for about five to six minutes before the rally descended into chaos.
6:10pm ET
A Secret Service officer spotted a man acting suspiciously near the magnetometer, and local police officers climbed onto the roof to investigate the suspect’s actions.
6:11pm ET
The first shot was fired by a gunman from the roof of a nearby building. As the first blast rang out, Trump said “Oh,” put his hand to his right ear, and then quickly crouched on the ground behind the podium.
Around 6:12 p.m.
Corey Comperatore, a 50-year-old former fire chief who was attending the rally, was shot and killed. The Secret Service quickly intercepted the sniper’s fire and shot the suspect dead.

President Trump’s private jet landed at Newark Liberty International Airport, and he was surrounded by members of a heavily armed Secret Service counter-assault team as he was escorted out of the airport.
