Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi arrived in Jammu on Saturday to take stock of the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir amid rising terrorist activity in the normally peaceful region. This is his second visit to Jammu in less than three weeks since taking over as the 30th Chief of the Indian Army on June 30, PTI reported.
The visit comes in the wake of two recent terror attacks that claimed the lives of nine Army soldiers, including a captain. The attacks took place in the frontier forest areas of Machedi in Kathua and Desa forests in Doda on July 8 and July 15 respectively.
