Tiffany Huertas, a Rio Grande Valley native, worked at KSAT-TV for seven years.
Just two months after San Antonio’s KSAT-TV announced the departures of six veteran anchors, another member of the station’s news desk is leaving.
In a social media post, reporter Tiffany Huertas said her last day at the ABC affiliate will be July 31. She had been a reporter at KSAT for seven years.
“Your love, kindness and support means the world to me,” Huertas said in a Facebook post Thursday. “I’ve read every message and comment you’ve sent me over the years and I thank you for allowing me to be a part of your lives and trusting me to tell your story.”
Huertas, a Rio Grande Valley native, did not reveal why he left the show or what his plans are for the future, but added that he looks forward to viewers returning to the show in “Community.”
KSAT announced in May that longtime anchors Mark Austin, Jesse Degollado, Marilyn Moritz, Mike Osterhage, Ursula Paris and David Sears were retiring. At the time, station officials said the employees combined had 179 years of television news experience.
These mass departures of senior staff are likely the result of a takeover by station owner Graham Media Group, which has made similar proposals to make job cuts at other TV stations.
