One of the great things about a long-running series is that the cast is full of familiar faces from years past, which is why it wouldn’t be an SVU series without Mariska Hargitay as Captain Olivia Benson and Ice-T as Finn Tutuola.
The duo are expected to return in lead roles in the new series, alongside Peter Scanavino as Sonny and DeMore Barnes as Christian Berland.
In Season 25, Kelli Giddish made a cameo appearance as Amanda Rollins, and it’s possible the character could return for brief appearances in the future, though this remains unconfirmed at this time.
The same can be said for Christopher Meloni, who plays Elliot Stabler, who is starring in an epic crossover episode with Law & Order: Organized Crime. Nothing is set in stone right now, but it’s entirely possible there will be some crossovers in the upcoming new season.
As far as what was announced, this is good news for Kevin Cain, as Detective Terry Bruno has been promoted to a series regular and will play a larger role than ever before.
Additionally, Julianna Aiden Martinez, who appeared in 9/11, will be joining the cast and introducing an all-new detective.
Here’s the cast of Law & Order: SVU expected to return for Season 26:
Mariska Hargitay as Olivia Benson, Ice-T as Oda, Peter Scanavino as Finn Tutuola, DeMore Barnes as Dominic Sonny Carisi Jr., Octavio Pisano as Christian Berland, Terry Serpico as Joe Velasco, Kevin Cain as Chief Tommy McGrath, Peter Scanavino as Detective Terry Bruno, Juliana Aiden Martinez as TBC

As of now, no confirmed story details have been released about what fans can expect in season 26.
But as fans of the series know, the great thing about SVU (and other Dick Wolf series) is that each episode features its own unique crimes, storylines, and guest stars. It’s unclear what cases the team will investigate in the new season, but you can bet that, as the series has done in the past, Law & Order: SVU will continue to use major stories in the news cycle to inform Season 26’s developments.
One thing is for sure: we’ll continue to follow Olivia Benson and her team as they investigate New York’s most brutal sex crimes.
