Open Health Niverville began work on a facility expansion project this week.
This has been in the planning stages for several years, said Niverville Health Care Services President and Niverville City Councilman Nathan Dweck.
He said: “We have recently made arrangements with the Niverville Heritage Center to secure extra space, which we are very much looking forward to.”
He said the open health clinic will be expanded by 970 square feet and will include 15 additional exam rooms. “We're effectively creating an entire new section, allowing us to add lab space, minor procedures and additional rooms, giving doctors more space to work. ”
Dueck said the reason for the expansion project was primarily because town council and NHCSI officials wanted to keep health care in the community.
“When it comes to our future plans, Niverville is probably one of the fastest growing communities in the area without medical facilities. We can wait to catch up on what direction we want to go in, or we can take ownership and leadership and start driving it ourselves.”
Dueck notes that patients who attend Open Health come from all over the Southeast. “Therefore, this facility is open to the entire region and we are excited to increase the number of physicians on staff and attract people from surrounding areas to expand our facility and visit Niverville as a new medical destination.” “”
Open Health Niverville currently has 12 full-time and part-time doctors, the board includes several specialists, and there is currently room to hire four more doctors.
Dueck said: “This expansion is just another step in realizing Open Health Niverville’s vision of becoming a regional hub for timely and effective healthcare services. We are seeing the benefits of being able to receive medical care, and there is a welcome need to expand our facilities and staff more doctors.”
“Our goal is that if we have to grow our own practice, we will find it relatively easy as long as we provide excellent facilities for our staff and patients. , we want to create a facility where word of mouth about our fun workplace and our growing community will attract more patients and physicians who want to work in rural Manitoba.”
The Open Health Niverville expansion project has a total budget of $100,000 and will be funded in the form of a grant from the Town of Niverville.
Dueck explains: “So Open Health is owned by a non-profit company, Niverville Healthcare Services, Inc., and at the end of the day, the funding for expansion will come from the community, and Open Health will be under various loans and We will give money back to the community through grants.”
The project officially began on Wednesday, May 15, and is expected to be completed by early 2025, Dueck said.
