“Mac and I have been committed to Children's Health and the University of Texas Southwestern for many years because we know how much of an impact they have on the well-being of our patients and communities. I've been blessed to be able to help,” Jean Pogue said. “Our family is proud to be a part of building a new pediatric campus in Dallas. We could not be more grateful for the difference it will make for future generations of children.”
In honor of the Pogue family's gift, the 33-acre site for a new pediatric campus in Dallas will be named Pogue Park. The park will encompass outdoor grounds surrounding the new facility and will include extensive green spaces aimed at supporting recovery and compassionate healing in a natural environment and reducing stress.
“For 40 years, the Pogue family's generosity has benefited our ability to provide excellent care that will shape the future of health care,” said Christopher Durovich, President and CEO of Children's Health. “I did it,” he said. “Pogue Park will significantly enhance the patient and family experience at our new pediatric campus in Dallas, creating a haven that reflects our mission to make children's lives better.”
Mack and Jean Pogue, who passed away in early 2024, generously provided more than $200 million in support to Children's Health and the University of Texas Southwestern over the past 40 years. This gift will enable both institutions to provide the best possible care while conducting world-class scientific research that will transform healthcare for the future.
“Through their remarkable foresight and philanthropy, Mac and Jean Pogue have advanced groundbreaking research at UT Southwestern, with a special focus on children.” UT Southwestern Medicine said Daniel K. Podolsky, MD, director of the center and professor of internal medicine. “The discoveries they made possible will be realized through the interdisciplinary, cutting-edge care that children in North Texas and beyond will receive at our new pediatric campus.”
With support from the Pogue family, Children's Health and the University of Texas Southwestern are entering a new chapter in pediatric care, innovation, and research to build a brighter future for children as North Texas experiences unprecedented growth. I am. The region's pediatric population is expected to double by 2050, and with this growth comes an essential need for greater access to excellent pediatric healthcare.
“This powerful gift is the latest testament to the Pogue family's desire to ensure that all children have access to quality care when and where they need it,” said Brent of the Children's Medical Center Foundation. Chairman Christopher said. “Their quiet generosity in support of medical care and research has profoundly benefited the lives of each of us in some way, in Dallas and beyond.”
Children's Health and UT Southwestern announced plans in February to build a new $5 billion pediatric campus in Dallas. Located in Dallas' Southwestern Medical District and directly across from the University of Texas Southwestern's William P. Clements, Jr. University Hospital, the new Dallas Pediatrics campus is a collaboration of innovation, academic research and training, and the development of life-saving technologies.
