In response to a request from the London Health Sciences Centre, Windsor Regional Hospital CEO David Musisi has been seconded to LHCS as Acting President and CEO, effective May 23.
The period of Mr. Msizi's secondment has not yet been decided.

The London medical facility, vital to health care in southwestern Ontario, has experienced turmoil in its executive office, with two presidents changing hands since 2021.

“A stable and strong London Health Sciences Center is good for London, Windsor, the region, the province, Canada and indeed internationally,” Mshizi told the Star. “I am honored to be a part of the LHSC team.”
The position of LHCS president is currently vacant after Dr. Jackie Shleifer Taylor took a leave of absence last November for health reasons. Shleifer-Taylor replaced former President Paul Woods in 2021 after Woods was fired for traveling to the United States during the coronavirus pandemic.
Ontario's Ministry of Health launches investigation after the London Free Press reported details of two trips by senior staff to Portugal and the United Arab Emirates and a planned trip to Australia last fall did. Sixteen staff members traveled to Portugal to attend an international hospital conference and six executives traveled to his UAE.
The total cost of the three trips was about $470,000, prompting criticism from labor unions and taxpayer groups.
LHSC canceled an eight-day trip to Australia two days before 11 staff members were scheduled to depart.
Schleifer-Taylor was placed on administrative leave after the Free Press report, but hospital officials said her leave was unrelated.

“Mr. Mshizi will assume the role and responsibilities of President and CEO, providing additional leadership capabilities to the management team and the broader LHSC team,” LHSC Board Chairman Matthew Wilson said in a statement. “While Dr. Jackie Schleifer Taylor is on administrative leave, this secondment is indefinite.
“Mr. Musyj brings extensive healthcare leadership and expertise to LHSC, including more than 15 years of experience leading large hospital organizations. This secondment is an extension of the partnership and collaboration between LHSC and Windsor Regional Hospital. Based on a long history.
“Mr. Musyj's familiarity with LHSC and our community will be invaluable as he assumes this acting role to provide additional corporate leadership capabilities to our already talented executive leadership team.” Probably.

Mr. Musyj joined WRH in 2000 and became President and CEO in December 2007. His nearly 17 years of experience as CEO of Windsor Hospital is more than three times the average tenure for hospital CEOs in Ontario.

Born and raised in Essex County, Mr. Musisi is admitted to practice law in both Ontario and Michigan.
“We wish David every success in his role supporting LHSC,” said WRH Board Chair Patti France.
“While we will miss David, we are proud of his accomplishments here, very excited about his new opportunities and confident in his leadership abilities in this role. have.”
In Msizi's absence, Karen Liddell will assume the role of WRH's acting president and CEO. Mr Liddell has been with WRH since 1999 and has held an officer role since 2017. She assumed the role of Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Operating Officer in 2021.
Msiszi's new role will take him to London, but he will eventually return to Windsor. He will also continue to be directly involved in planning and ongoing discussions for a new hospital in Windsor.

“Karen has been a great leader in helping WRH's clinical teams navigate the COVID-19 pandemic and recent criminal cyberattacks, building on her already many years of experience in hospital nursing. “I spent a lot of time on it,” France said.
“We have such incredible 'bench power' to make the changes necessary to ensure continued strong leadership at the top of Windsor and Essex County's largest employers. That is a testament to WRH's leadership.”
Liddell will remain chief executive officer of nursing, while Nicole Krivionek has been promoted to interim vice president.
Mr. Krivionek will be a member of the WRH Executive Committee and will be responsible for critical care, cardiology, diagnostic imaging, patient care, professional operations, corporate education and training, and clinical quality and safety.
