BMC Public Health is inviting submissions for its collection on adolescent mental health.
Adolescence is a critical developmental stage characterized by rapid physical and emotional changes. The psychosocial well-being of this age group is heavily influenced by a variety of factors, including social pressures, academic demands, and the pervasive influence of technology. Increases in anxiety, depression, and other mental disorders have made adolescent mental health a pressing global issue. Conditions that affect mental health at this stage not only affect immediate quality of life but can have lasting effects well into adulthood. Addressing adolescent mental health is essential to promote healthy development, prevent long-term psychosocial challenges, and promote a resilient and productive next generation.
This collection invites submissions that focus on delving into the various factors that influence mental health during the critical period of adolescence and promoting understanding, awareness, and evidence-based interventions. Topics may include, but are not limited to:
trends and changes in the prevalence of mental disorders among adolescents, identifying and analysing risk factors contributing to mental health problems, protective factors that can increase resilience and mental health, exploring the role of digital platforms in shaping adolescent mental health, assessing the impact of school environment on mental health, the impact of family relationships on adolescent mental health, assessing barriers to accessing mental health services for adolescents, evaluating strategies to improve access and utilization of mental health resources, evidence-based prevention programs, and intervention strategies to address specific mental health challenges.
This collection will support and strengthen research related to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being.
