Once construction is complete, Colwood will have a new mental health resource and substance use treatment facility.
This western community service hub is designed to meet a range of mental health and addiction needs, offering same-day walk-in or phone counselling and assessments five days a week.
The hub will connect people who need ongoing support with coordinators who can work one-on-one with clients and provide individualized treatment tailored to each person.
“Mental health and addiction issues can happen to anyone, and as our communities grow, so does the need for reliable care close by,” said Jennifer Whiteside, Minister of Mental Health and Addictions.
“The hub will bring together mental health and addictions services to support individuals and families where they live, making it easier for people to get all the care they need, when and where they need it.”

Staff working at the new location will include experts in the fields of psychiatry, addiction medicine, nursing, counselling, occupational therapy and peer support.
The province says the teams are able to adapt to each person's changing needs and ensure ongoing support throughout their recovery, a model developed in collaboration with local First Nations and Indigenous communities.
“Island Health recognizes and is responding to the growing need for mental health and addiction care in our community,” said Leah Hollins, Island Health board chair.
“By providing community services for mild to moderate mental health and addiction needs and connecting those with more advanced needs to specialized care, we are creating a coordinated and effective system of care.”
The facility, located at 681 Allandale Road in Colwood, is expected to open later this year.
