At St. Peter Canisius Catholic School, Mrs. Sonefeld and Mrs. Delash's seventh and eighth grade classes recently organized a successful food-collection contest to benefit the Watford Food Bank. The contest aims to replenish the food bank's stock of non-perishable foods and essential items, which is especially important during the summer months when the food bank often runs short on supplies.
St. Peter Canisius Catholic School Principal Erin Moffatt praised the students' efforts, saying, “This event exemplifies our school's compassion and commitment to community service.”
The enthusiastic response from students and faculty underscored the impact of the event. Mrs. Sonneveld noted the students' willingness to give and described the competition as both charitable and transformative.
Foodbank staff expressed their deep gratitude for this timely donation, which helped greatly to restock the shelves, and are now considering making this an annual event at St Peter Canisius Catholic School, which will ensure continued support for Watford Foodbank and foster empathy among students.
As we celebrate this year’s successes, we recognize the big impact that small acts of kindness can have, and Mrs. Sonnefeld’s seventh and eighth grade classes provided an inspiring example of how kindness can come together to create meaningful change.
