A passenger train derailed in Russia's far north in the Komi region on Wednesday, causing a carriage to overturn beside the tracks, injuring 20 passengers, the region's governor said.
Russian media quoted the Investigative Committee, Russia's main investigative body, as saying no one was killed in the accident, which happened outside the town of Inta. Nine carriages were derailed.
Komi Oblast Governor Vladimir Uiba said in a Telegram messaging app that 20 people were injured, three of them seriously, and there were 215 passengers in total.
Media outlets, citing police and emergency services, said injuries included fractures, bruises, cuts and head injuries.
Video footage posted online showed passengers being hoisted through the shattered windows of the overturned train and carried from the scene, with several carriages also seen lying on their sides on the side of the tracks.
Two extra trains and searchers were sent to evacuate passengers from the area, which is mostly forest and swamp, Russian news agencies quoted authorities as saying.
Authorities are checking the safety standards of the damaged tracks, which TASS news agency quoted police as saying had been eroded by recent floods.
The train was heading from Vorkuta, a mining town just above the Arctic Circle, to Novorossiysk, a Black Sea port city in southern Russia.
Russian Railways, citing media reports, said services on the line had been suspended.
