A New York Police Department (NYPD) video shared on Instagram has gone viral, showing body camera footage of officers rescuing six pit bull puppies trapped in a heating bag after a Queens woman tried to sell them over the weekend.
The video was shared with the caption, “A woman was selling puppies in hot bags on a street corner in Queens when officers from NYPD's 101st Precinct quickly investigated. Thankfully, the distressed puppies were rescued before they were seriously injured.”
“Let's get these dogs out of here. It's so hot,” the man says in the video. “These dogs could have been dead within five minutes.”
As People magazine reports, officers were called by a concerned citizen who had spoken with the woman on June 15. Witnesses said the woman had been discussing selling six puppies that had been packed in heated bags.
The NYPD told Fox 5 that when officers arrived on the scene, they could hear the woman trying to sell the puppy. One of the officers recorded the moment on his body camera when he found the puppy. The footage shows the officer slicing open a pink heating bag to reveal the sweaty puppy.

According to People magazine, the woman was charged with six counts of torturing and injuring an animal, six counts of abandoning a captured animal, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
After rescuing the puppies from the steamy bag, officers gave them water and fresh air.
The video sparked outrage among social media users. “Please tell me she's been charged,” one user wrote. A second added, “Put her in a bag on a 100 degree day!” A third wrote, “Thank you for acting so quickly to save these puppies! Can you tell me where they were taken after they were confiscated?” Another added, “A true hero. I hope they are all adopted into loving homes.”
