MONTREAL – A Delta flight originating from New York was compelled to conduct an emergency landing at Montreal’s Trudeau airport on Friday afternoon. Anne-Sophie Hamel, spokesperson for the airport authority, attributed the emergency landing to the presence of smoke onboard, assuring that no injuries were reported.
Hamel clarified that the airport authority received information indicating that the incident was not associated with mechanical malfunctions. Anthony Black, representing Delta, stated that the flight crew declared an emergency and executed the landing smoothly. As a precautionary measure, passengers were disembarked onto the tarmac.
Black added that an investigation into the cause of the smoke is currently underway.
