DGR unites classic and vintage style motorcycle riders from around the world to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer research and men's mental health. This first event began in Australia in 2012, and in 2016 Movember became an official charity partner.
To date, more than CAD 2 million has been raised to support nine Canadian men's health projects. Five projects are in the prostate cancer field and four in the mental health field. Both organizations share the same goals. It's about bringing people together to help change the face of men's health. This year, 121 countries will be participating and 31 rides will be held across Canada.
“Partnering with Distinguished Gentleman's Ride allows us to expand our reach and engage even more people who are passionate about men's health,” said Dan Cooper, Director of Innovation at Movember. “Together, we aim to challenge the stigma surrounding men's mental health and encourage men to take active steps to protect their health.”
The collaboration between Movember and DGR is in line with our shared goal of breaking down the barriers that prevent men from seeking help and support when they need it most. Through a series of events and fundraisers, both organizations will empower individuals across Canada to make a difference in their communities.
“We have set a goal to reach 1,000 cities around the world in 2024,” said Mark Howa, founder and director of The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride. “We have been riding bikes on the same day, around the world, on the same day since 2012. Our communities have come together across borders and oceans to fight the growing fight against men's mental health and prostate cancer. A community cycling together to raise vital funds and awareness, DGR 2024 is the year we celebrate our allies around the world, riding together, united by passion, and driven by a cause. .”
