If you can support the Calgary Food Bank with a food or cash donation, it will go a long way.
CEO Melissa Fromm said the local charity was still serving up to 700 families a day, even though inflation statistics had calmed down a bit.
“We love to see the inflation numbers starting to come down, but the reality is that once inflation goes up, it just keeps going up, so there's really no coming down,” she said.

Fromm added that an increasing number of those seeking assistance are employed.
“Whereas before it was just a small percentage of Calgary Food Bank users, now that number is over 20 to 25 per cent of Calgary Food Bank users, and what we're seeing is a reduction in the very cost. “Despite the livelihood crisis we're facing, people are apparently doing everything right,” she said.
Fromm said food banks are facing unprecedented demand and are always looking for items such as fresh vegetables and fruits, proteins and soups.

“The best way people can help us as individuals is through monetary donations,” she said. “For every dollar donated to the Calgary Food Bank, we are able to distribute $3.50 worth of food.”
