We Yankees know Gordon Ramsay as the angry British chef who would yell at contestants on Hell's Kitchen and call their food “ridiculous.” The world-famous chef rose to fame by teaching a new generation of cooks the secrets to success. He also helped out at his family-run restaurant on Kitchen Nightmares. So imagine our surprise when we found out back home that Gordon is actually a really nice guy to be around. His cantankerous personality might only be in front of the American cameras, but will Food Stars Season 2 be different?
Enter Lisa Vanderpump. The queen of flowers, femininity, and cooking. Bravo fans have happily watched her appear on Vanderpump Rules and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Over the years, she's mentored many in chasing their dreams. But with Lisa and Gordon going head-to-head in a new competition series, the question arises: who will be the winner of the new season of Food Stars?
What does Gordon bring to the table?
There is no doubt that Gordon has unique leadership skills. After the success of his first season, Gordon returned to the unprecedented show Food His Stars, in which entrepreneurs promote themselves and their products. It's like a shark in the stomach. He's like a tank. Gordon no doubt helped these inventors with his boot camp in the business, which he also experienced himself. Gordon was naturally talented in sports, but his injuries hampered his efforts and led him to attend culinary school. So Gordon is used to disappointment and will have to adjust his plans just like these competitors.
In 1993, Gordon won and worked as a chef at Aubergine. But in 1998, fate called as he finally launched his own business, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay. But what does Gordon actually offer? He has a professional degree in hotel management and currently runs 58 restaurants around the world. So, it's safe to say that Gordon would make a great choice to help contestants become the next big foodie star.
What does Lisa bring to the table?
Hospitality is in Lisa's blood. Over the past 11 years, Bravo viewers have watched her open multiple restaurants. She's also managed numerous staffs and launched multiple spinoffs. The mother of two has a no-nonsense personality. She can be challenging, but she's also fair. Lisa never lets herself be walked over. Lisa may seem quiet, but she's not to be messed with. Gordon told ET that her partner is “abusive” and a “tough cookie.”
Lisa has never been afraid to fire or tell hard truths to workers who don't follow through on their work. So I think if the inventor doesn't have a trump card, Lisa will have to be honest. I think one of the qualities Lisa has with Gordon is her ability to hide behind her surface. So she might be accepted a little better than she would be because she's from Scotland.
Who will win?
Gordon and Lisa must choose food and beverage entrepreneurs to join their teams. Essentially, they both have to sell themselves to the contestants, even though they're both in a good position to stand alone. Both run successful businesses and have banks full of cash. FOX made a great decision to match these two uncompromising industry titans with their unique insight into the food business. Viewers will see how Lisa and Gordon develop leadership and strategy in their respective successful businesses. We already know that they're both very comfortable on reality TV. But who comes to the table prepared to do everything in their power to lead their team to success?
It could be a showdown between titans, but Gordon and Lisa seem very happy to be part of a series that shows young stars growing up. Even though these two seem to get along well, they are both determined to win at all costs. Neither Gordon nor Lisa are used to coming second, and I imagine they will both have a few tricks up their sleeves to come out on top.
