Last week, a Georgina home cook restaurant was temporarily shut down by York Region Public Health inspectors.
Go With the Wind, located at 3526 Pollock St., was ordered to close May 24 for operating in a manner that posed a health hazard and for inadequate supply of drinking water to areas where food was served, according to a public health inspection report.
A complaint was received about the facility and an investigation was launched.
The report lists non-compliances such as refrigeration equipment with accurate indicating thermometers, not providing hand washing stations easily accessible to food handlers, not providing sufficient number of hand washing stations, not providing sufficient drinking water, not obtaining food from inspected sources, failing to ensure food premises are free of unlabelled or unstamped meat, not cleaning/sanitizing premises surfaces as required, not cleaning/sanitizing utensils as frequently as required, not providing facilities to clean and sanitize utensils as required, not providing facilities to clean and sanitize utensils as required, not ensuring certified food handlers or supervisors are present throughout operating hours, and not providing an adequate supply of water to operate the premises.
On-site food handler training was conducted, food and water samples were taken, verbal orders were issued, and the establishment was instructed to close.
York Region Public Health says inspection reports only indicate the condition of a restaurant at the date and time of the inspection and are not a guarantee or warranty of the condition of a food establishment at any other time.
