Padma Lakshmi knows that the secret to a healthy body and soul starts with self-love.
The 53-year-old former Top Chef host opened up about his approach to health and wellness in an interview for the latest issue of Us Weekly magazine.
“I don't restrict myself or overeat,” Lakshmi says, “I also try to be kind to my body and compare myself to myself, not to others.”

She also said that she likes to exercise as much as possible, adding, “I love weightlifting, boxing and jumping rope.” [and do] I train my abdominal muscles a lot.”
Earlier this month, People magazine asked Lakshmi if anything had changed about her or her appetite since leaving Top Chef after 17 years and 19 seasons on the show.
“I feel more relaxed. I feel less tired,” the Taste the Nation host told People magazine at the Gold Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday, May 11.

“I've only been off for one season, but I've had a year to test recipes for my new cookbook,” Lakshmi continued. “I'll be shooting that when I get back to New York. So it feels like nothing has really changed, but I know that will change now that I've put the recipes to bed.”
In June 2023, Lakshmi told People magazine that it often takes her 10 weeks to get back to her normal weight after filming “Top Chef.”
“I'm normally between a size four and a size six, but since being on Top Chef I can fit up to a size 10,” she told People magazine.
Lakshmi said boxing is one of her biggest training secrets.

“I've been boxing on and off for over 20 years, whenever my joints allow. I love boxing and as much as it has helped me physically, it has helped me much more mentally,” she said.
