Biden told reporters at his home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, that he had attempted to reach out to Trump, who is currently under medical care and appears to be in good health.

Trump was injured during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, when a series of apparent gunfire erupted and he was quickly escorted from the venue by the US Secret Service.
Police said the Secret Service shot and killed a suspected gunman at the polling station, leaving one person dead.
Police are treating the incident as an attempted assassination, according to CNN, and it’s not yet clear what weapon the gunman used.
“This kind of violence has no place in America. This is sick and this is one of the reasons we must unite our country. We cannot allow this to happen. We cannot be like this and we cannot tolerate it,” Biden said.
“I’m pleased to hear that he is safe and well, and I am praying for him, his family and all those who were at the rally as we await more information,” Biden said in a statement.

“I will speak with him as soon as I get back on the phone,” he said. Jill and I are grateful to the Secret Service for getting him to safety. This kind of violence has no place in America. We must come together as one nation and condemn it.
Trump reached his right hand to his neck, revealing blood on his face and ears. Media reports said several gunshots were heard while Trump was speaking at the rally.
Both the Secret Service and Trump’s spokesman said the former US president was safe.
Trump spokesman Steven Chan said in a statement that he was in good spirits and was being tested at a local medical facility.
“FBI agents are on scene in Butler, Pennsylvania, and the FBI will continue to work collaboratively with the U.S. Secret Service as the investigation progresses,” an FBI spokesperson said.
