Heavy rain lashed Canada’s largest city, Toronto, on Tuesday, flooding major roads, several highways and major transport hubs and reporting power outages in several areas.
Toronto police said parts of Don Valley Parkway, which runs from the north side of the city into Downtown Toronto, had been closed due to flooding, and parts of Lakeshore Boulevard along Lake Ontario were also closed due to flooding.
In the downtown core, flooding was reported at Union Station, a major transportation hub.

The Toronto Transit Commission said subway services would not stop at Union Station and several city buses and streetcars were diverting from their usual routes due to localized flooding.
Billy Bishop Airport, located on the Toronto Islands just minutes from downtown, said its pedestrian tunnels were closed due to flooding and passengers were being directed to take a ferry to the airport.
Flooding has also disrupted life in many other parts of the Greater Toronto Area, with provincial police warning that some major roads may flood and local police urging caution.

In Peel Region, west of Toronto, there were reports of manhole covers rising due to heavy rainfall and police are urging residents to use caution when driving.
The Toronto and Region Conservation Authority issued a flood warning, saying coastlines, rivers and streams in the Greater Toronto Area should be considered dangerous.
Environment Canada has issued rainfall warnings for much of the Greater Toronto Area and southern Ontario as a mix of heavy rain and thunderstorms moves across the region.
