If you left Redstone on April 20th feeling hungry and unsure of how to satisfy your hunger, you're not alone.
Every day, hundreds of peckish UVM students wander around campus, dazed and confused, in search of their next fancy meal. Luckily, our opinion staff is here to help.
Here, we will introduce carefully selected home remedies that are perfect for when you are feeling hungry.
Katerina Geline – Five Guys
It may sound basic, but when I got high for the first time in my life, my dad offered to order Five Guys because he didn't feel like cooking that night and came home. I did.
I swear, he looked into my bloodshot eyes and knew I was in dire need of greasy, heartburn-inducing food.
It was the best burger and fries I've ever had.
Emma Dinsmore – Domino’s Pizza
My best friend and I have a habit of ordering Domino's pizza on Friday nights. Affectionately known as “Domino”.
This ritual has become one of my favorite parts of the week, as I'm a bit addicted to all the garlic and cheese-filled products sold at Domino's Pizza.
Nothing tastes better than parmesan bread and pepperoni pizza. I never got tired of it no matter how many times I ate it.
Luna Tibbals – Indian Cuisine
It's not easy being a princess trapped in a big and scary castle, Converse Hall.
Not only do they have to climb five flights of stairs every day in a building with no elevator, but there are no vending machines or cafeterias connected to the building. I absolutely refuse to get properly drunk without snacking.
So on Friday nights, you can find me heading to Trinity Cottage, where my favorite group of lesbians meets weekly.
Common themes among these hangouts include a recreation of JoJo Siwa's “Karma” dance, a bootleg of Deaf West's “Spring Awakening,” and someone's pen disappearing in the middle of the night followed by a Door Dash.
Really, every place in Burlington that serves chicken tikka masala after 7pm benefited from this year's Stone Ass Door Dash. It's too convenient to have an Indian restaurant across the street from Trinity.
Anyway, if you've never dipped garlic naan into warm chicken tikki after smoking a bowl of meat, you're missing out.
Abby Phillips – Ramen
There's nothing better than ramen noodles to cure the terrible symptoms of munchies and bollworms.
I prefer the chicken flavor, topped with lots of shredded mozzarella and hot sauce. I always end up burning shit out of my mouth, but I enjoy the numbing sensation of boiling hot noodles and copious amounts of hot sauce.
To take your feast to the next level, pair ramen with macaroni and cheese for the ultimate comfort meal.
Lucas Martineau – Dim Sum
This Chinese brunch classic holds a special place in my heart and stomach.
From the flavorful xiao long bao filled with ginger and pork broth to the chewy steamed shrimp rolls, I'm a fan of all the food under the dim sum banner.
Yes, chicken legs too.
If you're looking for dim sum in Burley, Café Dim Sum on St. Paul Street is the place to go. The only problem is that it may be difficult to stop ordering.
Olivia Langland – Mexican Cuisine
My answer is simple, as there is an explosion of flavors every time. It's “Mexican food”.
From burritos, tacos, and even fresh tortilla chips with a guacamole ratio to “chips and dip,” Mexican food never disappoints.
Warm, spicy and very versatile. The options are truly endless, and so are the flavors.
Ayelet Kaminsky – Skinny Pancake
Last but not least. I couldn't in good conscience ignore Skinny P.'s name in conversation during my munchies at UVM.
If you've ever been to Skinny Pancakes after 10pm on a Saturday night, you'll know that the only customers not getting high at that time are the drunks.
It's no secret that there are very few food options on campus late at night, and I mean after 8 p.m. Outside of the token vending machines located in each residence hall, Skinny His pancakes are often the only food available after a certain time.
The food itself isn't too shabby either. Plus, you'd be hard-pressed to find anything tastier than crepes.
Classics are classics for a reason.
