NORMAN, Okla. – Georgia Tech's Christo Lamprecht has been named one of five finalists for the 2024 NCAA Division I Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award, presented by Workday on Thursday. This marks the third time a Yellow Jackets senior has been named a finalist for the National Player of the Year award.
He joins Florida State's Luke Clanton, North Florida's Nick Gabrelsik, Auburn's Jackson Koibun and Stanford's Michael Thorbjornsen. The winners will be announced by Nicklaus at the annual commemorative press conference on Tuesday, June 4, with awards presented to each recipient by Nicklaus and Workday.
The senior from George, South Africa, has already been named the 2024 Byron Nelson Award recipient, which is presented to the top senior golfer in the country based on four-year achievement on the golf course, academic achievement and contributions to the community. Lamprecht, who was named the 2024 ACC Player of the Year, is also a finalist for the Ben Hogan Award, which will be presented at Coiboon on Monday, and is also a finalist for the Fred Haskins Award, which will be announced on Monday.
In college, Lamprecht won the OFC/Fighting Illini Invitational, was a co-medalist at this year's Ben Hogan College Invitational, and finished in the top 10 overall six times. Additionally, Lamprecht placed second at the Water Sound Invitational and tied for third at this spring's ACC Championship. Overall, his average stroke is his 69.13, which challenges the all-time Tech record for a single year.
