Fast-food giants are competing with each other by offering deals to attract customers. Last week, McDonald's revealed plans to launch a $5 menu to win back once-loyal customers amid the company's rising prices, Bloomberg reported. While Mickey Dee's is “focused on affordability,” Burger King has launched its own $5 menu. The two companies are known to be rivals of each other. But Burger King appears to be getting ahead of McDonald's by planning to roll out deals before them.

While McDonald's $5 menu is scheduled for late June, Burger King is “accelerating its value menu offerings after leading the industry in value menu sales for three quarters. As agreed to with franchisees in April, we are bringing back our $5 Your Way Menu,” the company said in a statement to USA Today.

In an email to the news outlet, the company confirmed that as part of the upcoming deal, customers will be able to choose from three sandwich options, in addition to chicken nuggets, fries and a drink. Additionally, Burger King's deal is expected to last “several months,” while McDonald's is only for four weeks.

McDonald's focuses on 'affordable prices' with $5 menu
McDonald's has yet to confirm the details of the upcoming deal that will replace the “affordable price” deal, but USA Today reports that the menu will include a choice of McChicken, McDouble, or four-piece Chicken McNuggets with fries and a drink.

“As we move into 2024, I think we'll probably see an increased focus on what I call 'affordability,'” McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski said during the company's most recent earnings call, adding that “it's imperative that we continue to keep affordability top of mind for our customers.”

In response to a Reuters article titled “Burger King launches $5 value meal ahead of McDonald's,” Wendy's posted on X (formerly Twitter) “Please stop exploiting the Biggy Bag concept.”
The company reiterated that sentiment in a statement to media, saying, “We know others are trying to catch up with the value of Wendy's OG Biggie and copy our $5 Biggie Bag… but Wendy's has been offering fans a $5 meal set with their choice of three sandwiches, nuggets, fries and a drink every day since 2019.”
