London Tech Week gets underway today (10 June) and organisers are expecting the event to double in size from last year due to “enormous interest”. With ancillary events taking place throughout the week, the event could attract up to 45,000 people.
As with every year, London Tech Week 2024 is set to be a historic event for the UK's tech world, showcasing the latest developments and fostering collaboration between players in the digital sector.
What happens at London Tech Week?
This year's schedule is packed with informative keynote speeches, panel discussions, seminars and exhibitions.
Most importantly, it's a great opportunity to network with some of the best minds in the industry.
When is London Tech Week 2024?
This year's event will take place from June 10 to June 14. The main event will take place at the Olympia event from June 10 to 12, with associated events taking place throughout the week at other locations from Monday to Friday.
Important Events to Note
first day
The theme of the inaugural event will be Artificial Intelligence (AI). The host for the first day will be Dr Nicola Hodson, CEO of IBM UK & Ireland, who will speak about practical applications of AI and its impact on business with clients. Francesca Arese Lucini, Head of Insights and Data at Founders Forum & Tech Nation will present on the UK's position on the global AI scene.
Panel talks and fireside chats exploring the promise and challenges of AI are planned for later in the day, with tech leaders from Microsoft UK, Google Deepmind, Mastercard, Monzo and Natwest due to speak.
Besides artificial intelligence, several other key technological fields will be explored, including quantum technology, healthcare transformation, cybersecurity and solving the talent shortage in the IT industry. Exhibitions will be held showcasing cutting-edge developments in various digital industries, providing start-ups with an opportunity to present their creative ideas to potential partners and investors.
Day 2
On the main stage, the morning session will begin with a panel discussion on “The UK's Path to a Science and Technology Powerhouse”, exploring plans and activities to put the UK at the forefront of the global tech world, followed by a Fireside Discussion entitled “Information and Influence: A New Age of Propaganda?”, exploring the opportunities and challenges posed by a changing media landscape.
The Founders Stage will feature programming designed specifically for business owners, with panel discussions covering topics such as building a profitable company, choosing the best location for your startup, and crafting a compelling investor story.
Meanwhile, startups will have the opportunity to showcase their creative solutions on the Pitch Stage, where companies from the health and climate technology sectors will compete for funding and recognition.
Entrepreneurs can learn a lot from workshops on how to deal with the tax complexities that come with growing a software company, or how to establish a solid presence on LinkedIn.
third day
The final day of London Tech Week 2024 promises to be an exciting finale, offering a comprehensive look at the rapidly changing technology landscape and how it impacts various aspects of our lives.
The Corporate Innovation Stage will focus on innovative approaches to problem-solving and addressing talent shortages. A host of informative talks, workshops and exhibits will take place throughout the day, catering to a wide range of interests within the tech industry. Topics to be covered include health tech, sports tech and workshops on attracting diverse talent and establishing a successful career in tech.
Indro Mukerjee, CEO of Innovate UK, will set the tone with a keynote address on the future of innovation in the UK. Shobie Ramakrishnan, Chief Digital and Technology Officer at GSK, and Kate Smaje, Senior Partner at McKinsey Digital, will lead a discussion titled “The Future of Healthcare”, where they will discuss the revolutionary potential of technology to transform the healthcare industry.
