UTA has appointed veteran music and technology executive and entrepreneur Bob Robach as chief operating officer.
Robach will report to CEO Jeremy Zimmer and president David Kramer and will also join UTA's board of directors as a partner.
As COO, Robach will oversee all business operations as well as areas such as growth, strategy and technology.
Robach's background spans content, digital consumer services, consumer products, and business-to-business platforms and marketplaces. Most recently, he served for seven years as CEO of Ingrooves Music Group, a music and marketing business that is now part of Universal Music Group. Previously, he served as president and a director of Fender Musical Instruments Corporation. Robach has also co-founded several companies, including Dashbox, The Media Farm, and Launch Media, the precursor to Yahoo Music.
“I am thrilled to welcome Bob Robach to UTA,” Zimmer said in an official statement. “Throughout his distinguished career, Bob has built and led multiple businesses at the intersection of entertainment and technology, and will be a valuable partner to UTA as we work to help our clients succeed in an increasingly global and complex marketplace.” The CEO also thanked “Andrew Thau, who has served as our COO since 2007 and became co-head of UTA Sports last year, for his significant contributions.” “I am excited to have Andrew focus full-time on growing sports' presence on the world stage and accomplish this.”
Robach's “experience and approach are an ideal fit with UTA's entrepreneurial and future-focused culture,” Kramer said. “Artists, athletes and brands want to participate globally in all sectors of the entertainment industry, and Bob will help us continue to operate at a level that demonstrates best-in-class representation.”
UTA continues to diversify its business through internal investments, acquisitions and strategic partnerships. On Monday, Thau and Rich Paul, founder of UTA-backed Clutch Sports Group and co-president of UTA Sports, announced the acquisition of ROOF, a soccer-focused agency that represents top players in Europe and beyond.
“I have long been impressed with UTA's dedication to its clients and its leadership in defining what it means to be a global agency at a time of great change and opportunity,” said Robach. “I am thrilled to be joining the company at this exciting time and look forward to shaping the future with UTA's talented and ambitious team.”
