For the second consecutive year, Texas Tech University has improved its status as a leading institution of higher education, according to one of the world's most widely referenced university rankings.
In the 2025 QS World University Rankings, released in early June by global higher education analytics company QS Quacquarelli Symons, Texas Tech is ranked between 781st and 790th in the world. Last year, Texas Tech was in the 801-850th range.
“We are encouraged by Texas Tech's advancement in the latest global rankings, which reflects our commitment to academic excellence and innovation,” said Texas Tech Vice President Ron Hendrick. “This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our faculty, staff and students who advance the university's mission. We remain relentless in our pursuit of excellence in all aspects of higher education and prepare our graduates to succeed in an increasingly competitive global landscape.”
Last year, QS implemented its biggest methodological enhancement since its inception, introducing three new indicators – sustainability, employment outcomes and internal research networks – and adjusting the weightings of existing indicators, including academic reputation, employer reputation and faculty-student ratio.
This year's QS World University Rankings is the largest ever, assessing more than 1,500 universities across 105 higher education systems.
