About the course
The theoretical course, “Risk Communication and Community Engagement in Health Emergencies,” is offered through the Public Health Virtual Campus and is part of PAHO's Health Emergencies Division's efforts to update and strengthen risk communication and community engagement capacities for health emergency preparedness, mitigation, and response.
The curriculum is based on materials developed by PAHO/WHO, other organizations of the United Nations system, and academic authors. This course provides a foundation in the importance of risk communication to respond to health emergencies through the knowledge and application of community empowerment strategies.
Who is it for?
This online course is particularly aimed at those working in the fields of communication and health promotion for health authorities at national and local levels and other organizations involved in health emergency responses, but its content is of great relevance to everyone involved in public health.
Period and style
This is a self-paced course consisting of 7 modules. It is estimated that it will take a total of 7 hours to complete the course.
The webinar will be conducted in English. French interpretation will be provided.
