Additional funding has been provided for the Boundary Trails Health Centre expansion project.
Daniel Hacoe of Swan Lake, a board member of the Lawn Memorial Health Foundation, presented the BTHC Foundation with a $100,000 donation.
“Because… Swan Lake Memorial Hospital 1718878490 “As an interim facility, the Lawn Memorial Health Foundation decided to donate to the Boundary Trails expansion project,” Haco said. “Part of the reason is… [that] Our community members [BTHC’s] The facility will be used extensively, bringing great benefits to cancer treatment, neonatal care and more.”
Haco said the money had already been committed to the BTHC Foundation.
“[The BTHC expansion] It's something we want to support in our community. [I]It has had widespread support from the start.”
Ben Friesen, president of the BTHC Foundation, was touched by the donation.
“The City of Lorne has already been supportive of our expansion project, which is great. [I]”It's good to see people understanding the future of health care,” Friesen said.[People] They know this is where they're going to come to get medical care.”
The donation will go toward the Building for the Future fund, which is part of the BTHC expansion plan. Friesen said by the time the five-year expansion project is complete, there will be additional projects requiring equipment and new initiatives to bring more healthcare professionals to the area. The donation from the Lorne Memorial Healthcare Foundation will be used to support those plans.
Friesen said one of the visions for the expansion is to work toward a future where residents have to make fewer trips to Winnipeg or Brandon for health care services, especially when it comes to cancer care.
Friesen points out that the community investment is widespread: The BTHC Foundation receives support from across southern Manitoba, not just Morden, Winkler and Stanley.
