Verified Duo Push Mobile Graphics
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is taking steps to strengthen Georgia Tech’s defenses against cyberattacks, such as Duo two-factor authentication push scams. These measures include implementing verified Duo push by the close of business on Monday, June 24, to enhance the security of logins to laboratory systems.
Verified Duo Push is a more secure version of Duo Push, the two-factor authentication system Georgia Tech currently uses, adding an additional layer of security to campus online accounts. Verified Duo Push provides additional security against “push harassment” and “push fatigue” by requiring users to enter a three-digit code to confirm authentication requests rather than an “approve” or “reject” option. (The code expires after 60 seconds.) Verified Duo Push also enhances fraud reporting by directing users to the fraud reporting option in the Duo Mobile application when they receive an unexpected Duo Push login request.
Verified Duo Push requires Duo Mobile 4.16.0 or later for Android devices (Android 8 or later, 2017 or later) and Duo Mobile 4.17.0 or later for Apple devices (iOS 13 or later, iPhone 6s, 2015 or later). For more information about Verified Duo Push and the requirements for using it, see the Georgia Tech knowledge article How to use the Verified Duo Push authentication method (KB0043706).
