The Windsor-Essex County Chapter of the Canadian Mental Health Association was selected to use its well-known bereavement program as a framework for chapters across the province.
“We were incredibly honoured to be asked by CMHA Ontario to lend our expertise in bereavement to create tools and resources that can be made available to individuals and clinicians across the province and beyond. Grief is something that affects all of us at some point in our lives. It can be one of the most traumatic experiences in life. We hope that these resources can provide hope and support,” said Nicole Sbrocca, CEO of CMHA-WECB.
The campaign recently won the highest award, Platinum Hermes, which is awarded to the work judged to be the most outstanding in the competition. Platinum winners are recognized for work that excels in quality, creativity and wit.

The Grief Resource Initiative aims to provide CMHA Ontario chapters with tools for people dealing with different forms of grief. This comprehensive educational campaign was designed and developed by Douglas Marketing Group (DMG).
“Innovative approaches to comprehensive bereavement mental health programming is important to the population health of all of us. DMG is proud to have been involved in the design and development of the CMHA Bereavement Resources Campaign to educate, engage and engage Ontarians. It's fantastic that Windsor-Essex has been the catalyst for this effort,” said Kay Douglas, president of DMG.
DMG's Big Picture Landscape software allows participating chapters to download completed educational materials, templates they can customize for their chapter, and online assets based on their specific needs. The program and software also provide access to video seminars and educational videos for other chapters, which were produced in collaboration with Media Street Productions. This process supports consistent messaging and branding while connecting chapters across the state into a framework to expand bereavement programs in high-need communities.
