WESTFORD — Nashoba Valley Technical High School has announced its Students of the Month and Outstanding Athletes for February.
Outstanding Student of the Month
The Student of the Month is selected based on the school's “Graduate Profile” attributes: resourceful, responsible, tenacious, respectful and well-prepared.
Kylie Bellissimo, daughter of Tony and Jennifer Bellissimo of Chelmsford, was a senior in the veterinary assistant program. She was a member of the art club. She plans to attend college while working in the veterinary field after graduation. She was an honors student who worked at Canine Odyssey in Chelmsford through Nashoba Tech's Cooperative Education program.
Kylie was nominated by math teacher Barbara Whitney, who wrote, “Kylie is the epitome of a responsible, prepared and resourceful student. She always completes her classwork, has all the materials she needs, and is always respectful of her peers and the classroom.”
Chase Blaisdell, son of Justin and Kathleen Blaisdell of Pepperell, was a junior in the Auto Collision Repair and Repainting program. He is a freshman coach and captain of the baseball team. He plans to take a job at CARSTAR Collision Center in Fitchburg after graduation and is currently working in the Cooperative Education program at Nashoba Technical College.
Chase was nominated by music teacher Emily Lewis, who wrote, “Chase went above and beyond what was expected of him this month. He showed great respect and responsibility when his peers could not. His kindness and consideration led to some truly outstanding choices that he himself may not feel amount to much, but which deserve recognition.”
Jared King, son of Bert and Amy King of Townsend, was a senior in the plumbing and heating program. He was a four-year football player for the Vikings and worked for Milltown Plumbing Company in Chelmsford through Nashoba Technical College's co-op program.
Jared was nominated by math teacher Jacqueline LeRoy, who wrote, “Jared has shown significant growth throughout the school year. He has consistently implemented the Five R's academically and technically. Jared has demonstrated a sense of responsibility, maintaining an average above 100% in Pre-Calculus second semester, and has consistently used class time wisely and completed all assignments on time.”
“He has demonstrated resourcefulness by stepping up and using resources to complete assignments, even when he is absent,” she added. “He has demonstrated respect by mediating misunderstandings between peers and always treating those around him with dignity and kindness.”
Athlete of the Month
Olivia Dold, daughter of Francis and Michelle Dold of Townsend, was captain of the cheerleading team her sophomore year. She is enrolled in the carpentry program and plans to attend college after graduation, possibly studying in the medical field.
Olivia was nominated by cheerleading coach Christine Patenaude, who wrote, “Olivia is super supportive of all her teammates and has a 100% attendance rate.”
Natalia Jaramillo, daughter of Jesse and Juana Jaramillo of Westford, is a junior wrestler who last season placed third in the Division 3 girls state wrestling tournament, fourth at the all-state tournament and fifth at New England, all in the 126-pound weight class. She is an honors student in cosmetology and plans to attend college after graduation.
Natalia was nominated by wrestling coach Larry Bavis, who wrote, “Nat overcame many obstacles this wrestling season. Despite hurting his shoulder and wearing a cast all year, Nat performed well at the D3 State Meet, All-State Meet and New England, representing Nashoba Tech with pride and great sportsmanship.”
