Voters dissatisfied with inflation
Voters are unhappy with inflation and the overall economy 02:11
As consumers deal with lingering inflation, CBS News is tracking price changes across the country for everyday household expenses, from grocery store food to utilities and even rent.
The tracking charts below use a wide range of government and private data to show how the costs of goods and services have changed from before the pandemic to the latest information available, with most items based on last month's data.
The price tracker is based on data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics for food, household goods, and services, and Zillow for rent and home purchase prices. All charts are noted and linked to their original data sources.
For household operating expenses, rents and home sales, the 2024 data cited is the latest available up to the last month, with historical comparisons going back to 2019 to the same months.
The real estate data in the tracker is collected by Zillow, which combines property listings on its site, public records and economic trends to conduct detailed research on home sales prices, rents and other housing costs.
