When is MTG Duskmoan release date? This horror-inspired set takes place entirely within a supernatural haunted mansion and will be the last premier set release of 2024. Below you'll find a timeline of important dates for Duskmoan: House of Horror, the latest news on the set, and the first spooky spoilers.
Duskmourn is coming out surprisingly quickly, unleashing its nightmares just a month after Bloomburrow's Beard and Whimsy. To see how this MTG set fits in among the rest of this year's offerings, check out our MTG release schedule guide.
MTG Duskmourne release date
MTG Duskmourn's worldwide release date has been revealed to be September 27th. This information was first revealed in an article on the game's Japanese website. Pre-orders will be available from June 28th.
While it makes sense to release a horror set well before Halloween, it's a surprisingly early date for the fourth premiere set of 2024. We've become accustomed to the final “main” set of the year coming out in November.
As you can see from the chart above, previews for Duskmoorn will be available as early as the first week of September, with its debut taking place on August 31st.
Pre-release events are scheduled to take place starting on September 20th, with MTG Arena releasing just a few days later on September 24th.
MTG Duskmourne spoilers
More spoilers for Duskmourne are expected to be released soon, but the first few cards from the set have already been revealed.
Overload Cycle
When I see the art for Boilerbilge Lord, or the Haunted Forest Lord card, I think this is an Avatar Horror cycle, each of which likely has this new bestow keyword. I don't know what that means.
Ghostwood Sovereign has a strange ability: whenever it enters the battlefield or attacks, it creates a colorless land token of any basic land type.
A Perpetual Cycle
This is a cycle of animal “sparkle” creatures that come back as enchantments after they die. The first one, “Enduring Tenacity,” is pretty exciting. It's cheaper than “Sanguine Bond.” Perhaps each card in this cycle will relate to an existing iconic enchantment.
Ley Line Cycle
Duskmourn also has a new cycle of Leyline enchantments that you can put onto the battlefield for free if you have them in your opening hand, which combines two classic life-gain abilities from MTG's Angels: the extra life-gain effect comes from Angel of Vitality, and the creature buff from Righteous Valkyrie.
MTG Duskmourne Commander Deck
As of now, only a teaser has been released about the Duskmoorn Commander deck. The deck is as follows:
Commander Deck Colors Commander Teasers Miracle Worker Blue/Black/White Aminatou See into the future, perform miracles Surprise! Blue/Green Simone Tricky instants, mysterious face-down cards Death Wave Black/Green Winter Fill your graveyard, resurrect monsters Eternal Punishment Black/Red Varvagos Punish your opponents, make them pay the price
We can only speculate as to what these decks are like, but there are some big hints given in the teaser text for each one.
Miracle Worker definitely has the miracle mechanic, Death Toll is clearly a Golgari reanimation deck, Jump Scare plays with instants, maybe flash instants and face-down permanents, and Endless Punishment kind of makes you pay life.
Duskmourn also sees the return of the Archenemy game mode, allowing one player to become the Big Bad at the Commander Table. Each deck comes with 10 wicked scheme cards that can power up players to nasty levels and turn the melee into a fair fight.
MTG Tales of Duskmourne
Dasmorn is an MTG plane that has been completely engulfed by a vast, ever-shifting mansion, and the architect behind this is Vargavos, a strange, insectoid, moth-themed demon that feeds on fear.
Duskmourne's home is so vast that it's divided into biomes, each of which seems to be tied to a mana color. Explore the sonorous white stone chambers of Mystmoor and the waterlogged, static-filled, all-blue chambers of the Floodpits.
We tour the decaying basements of Vailmark, explore the strangely lush Hauntwoods and the sweltering, destructive Boiler Bilge.
Back in April, we found out which MTG Planeswalkers would be appearing in the set — or at least we thought so. Kite will be appearing in the set, helping out a new character named Winter in the illustration above. In this piece, we get a better look at what looks like the Ghostbusters PKE meter, or at least the Magic PKE meter.
But it turns out there are plenty of other notable characters in the set: The Wanderer, Taivo, Nico, and Jimone all make an appearance — we've already seen the last creature card, although Jimone wasn't a Planeswalker — but we still don't know who was unsparked.
